Welcome to Reception Class
Welcome to Reception class!
The children have begun settling in well and are learning the class and school routines.
We have fun and interesting topics to inspire our learning over the year, starting with ‘Me and the Sea’, which lasts until the October half term. All of the 7 Areas of Learning are covered through this topic: personal, social and emotional development; communication and language; physical development; literacy; mathematics; understanding the world; expressive arts and design. This will enable the children to talk about themselves, their families and friends and holiday experiences. They will learn largely through play and staff will be able to assess their next steps of learning.
As you may be aware children are continually assessed by observation to inform planning and children’s needs. As partners in your child’s education we would be grateful to hear from you when your child achieves something special or a big milestone e.g. riding a 2 wheeled bike… We are sending home some wow vouchers for you to keep at home and fill in and send to school when you feel they have achieved something out of the ordinary. They will be celebrated in school.
Library books are selected by the children every week. They are to be looked after and returned every Thursday in order to change them.
P.E lessons are timetabled for Monday afternoons and Friday mornings. Please could you ensure that all P.E kit is named.
