Golden Time

At Lakefield we follow the Jenny Mosely ideology and base our behaviour policy around her 'Golden Time' rules. Each class has a display of the 'Golden Rules' which encourage the children to not only help and support each other, but also to take care of other peoples feelings and property. By following the golden rules the children are able to enjoy Golden Time on a Friday afternoon.

At 1.50pm every Friday the children and staff all attend celebration assembly where children receive merit certificates and can bring in sports and music awards to show their out of school achievements. During this assembly the children from each class who have been chosen as the 'Golden Award' come out to the front to receive a special sticker and to have their picture taken to go in the Golden award book.  After celebration assembly the children go off to their chosen golden time activity. Any children who have lost some of their Golden Time watch a sand timer until they are able to join in with the activities.

Every term the teachers choose an activity that the children can sign up to each week to take part in during golden time. Every term there are a range of activities including:

Bring Your Own

Disco

ICT

DVD

Outside Play

Basketball

Library

Board Games

Giant playground games

K'Nex

Infant Bikes and Trikes

Colouring Club

Golden Time is a lovely way for the whole school to end the working week - and to look forward to a new start on Monday morning.
