Welcome to Year 1!

Subjects are taught through a topic approach, allowing children to make connections in their learning and consider how their knowledge applies to real life.

We have fun and interesting topics to inspire our learning over the year, starting with ‘Once upon a time…’ This theme includes learning about the human and physical features of Frampton-on- Severn in geography. We are looking at structures in design and technology and materials in science. We will explore castles, princesses and dragons!

In the Spring term our topic will be ‘Amazing Animals,’ looking at the different animal groups in science and different habitats across the world in geography. We will also have a visit from ‘Zoolab.’ We will enjoy Julia Donaldson stories.

In the Summer term we will look forward to ‘Cowabunga’ – superheroes and toys! This will allow us to complete many design and technology activities and to explore the history of toys with a visit to the ‘Museum in the Park.’
